Stress and depression can be a woman, especially a woman suffering from substance abuse, to feel overwhelmed and anxious. Many women find it difficult to cope with the stress and depression that can be brought on by everyday life. Between juggling the needs of others and their own needs, it can be difficult for a woman to take time out of their busy lives to deal with their own feelings.
While some women find that activities such as yoga, reading, painting or exercise help to cope with stress and depression, the other women did not feel they even have the time to carve out for these activities. Music can be an incredibly powerful tool for women who find it difficult, 15, 30 minutes or an hour for yourself to find every day to be found. Although we are still learning how music affects the body, we know that music therapy can be effective for the treatment of stress and depression as well as anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed.

Some songs bring memories of happier times, as our school days or constitutes a particular family vacation, while others sit in a pensive mood. If you listen to music to relax, here are some things to consider:
Do not use headphones! Play even if you are not the music through speakers in the car and let your body feel the rhythm. Dance if you want to dance, sing, if you want to sing. Let your body tell you how the music can be your fear, stress and alleviate depression.
Close your eyes. If you can, listen to music at home or in a place where it's safe to close your eyes. This helps soothe our brains and our bodies to focus on the beat or the lyrics. If you listen to soft music or jazz, take a deep breath while you listen and focus your mind on the notes. If you hear something optimistic, have a 30-second dance marathon and get physically active.
A mix tape. Ok, so we do not make cassettes anymore, but take this concept and put together a playlist of songs that will help you with your feelings of anxiety, stress and depression to cope. If a certain song is reminiscent of a past relationship that is at the root of depression, avoid it to your play list, or if you need to add at the top of your game list and the subsequent tracks more relaxing and uplifting. If you need to cry, you cry it out and let the next song to cure your heart....
