Some people just seem natural born nervous passengers. They are good, but if they are in control of the car turn into a nervous wreck or - worse yet - a control freak when they are in the passenger seat. If this applies to you, then here are some ideas to help you less nervous when you're a passenger in a car.
Learn to relax This might be easier said than done. Especially if you hit your foot is constantly an imaginary brake pedal while you sit in the passenger seat.
Maybe get some of trance music on your iPad and plug your headphones in, as soon as you begin the journey.
Perhaps through a short relaxation exercise to help you relax for a few minutes before the trip starts to go.
Or explore some different ways to help you relax, such as yoga or meditation. Whatever help is best for you, you can relax during the stressful road trip before.
Learning to trust This will depend on who is actually driving the car concerned. It could be a complete stranger, like a taxi driver. Or it could be someone who has driven you to be before. Or somewhere in between.
Step back for a moment and work out if you. The same way, regardless of who is driving the car to react Or if you just freak out under certain circumstances.
Once you have a handle on how you respond, then you should have some tips on how to control your anxiety and nervousness.
So many people find that they are actually less nervous when they have a fare paying passenger in a taxi, as they are when a friend is they're a life somewhere. If that's the case for you, spend a little time trying to figure out why you are feeling differently and work out if you transfer the feeling of relative calm in the situation where you are currently closer to a nervous wreck.
Take a deep breath Just like your mother told you. Keep taking those deep breaths, as the journey progresses. Just be careful not to loud or obvious. After all, you do not want to drive for errors of the person or make your nervousness so contagious that they catch him. Otherwise this could turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy and someone usually a good driver in a bad turn.
But usually is under nice, long, deep breaths will help you calm your nerves and make the trip a bit more enjoyable.
Distract yourself Turn the trip into a game. Play a game on your phone or iPad could be uncomfortable, especially if you are prone to travel sickness.
But playing some other game as you could travel along fun. How many red convertibles you can see in the next 10 minutes? This kind of thing.
Listen to the radio or a CD can also be a good way to distract yourself. Obviously, you have to agree to what you hear with the driver, but it can be an easy way to get yourself absorbed in something else and take your mind, be like driving does....
